Peak

Communication™

It has been estimated that in both airplane accidents and disputes in the workplace, up to 80% of the problem can be attributed to poor communication! So it's well worth considering a few simple questions, such as:
When you speak, are you really expressing exactly what you mean to say?

And even if you are, are your listeners hearing what you mean to say, or are they perceiving your words through their own biases and filters?

When others speak, are you really listening to the best of your ability (rather than taking notes so that you can respond, as so many of us do?)?

If not, what can you do to overcome these almost universal problems?

David can help each member of your group listen better, make criticism more palatable (and useful), and provide an excellent model for others in the workplace, with Peak Communication™! Whether you need to maximize these crucial skills in your company itself, or prepare your Board of Directors to maximize their time at their annual meeting, or help your HQ staff relate to your field staff — this workshop will do the trick! Peak Communication™ is also great for sales people and customer service reps, new or old.

Of course, this will all be done in the most entertaining way possible. By using the metaphor of playing harmonica in duets, trios, and small groups, David creates a “virtual communications laboratory” that puts the focus on clear expression — and clear reception — of ideas.

How does that work? Well, playing the harmonica with other people takes most of the content out of communication, which allows us to focus on the process. This is done using David's Six Point Peak Communication Matrix (based on his study of communication theorists such as Cialdini, Goffman, Tannen, and others). And once the process skills of communication are learned — or rather, not just learned, but experienced — they can be applied to just about any situation, at work or at home!

David enhances this take-home value by helping each participant to create his or her own written “Peak Communication Action Plan” for use after the event.
